Falcon Heights Open Gym

Falcon Heights Parks and Recreation will hold open gym Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at Falcon Heights Elementary School starting Nov. 2. Adults and youth have two chances to participate this year, Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Barker-Hinsperger

William and Bernadette Barker of Roseville announce the engagement of their daughter, Amberleigh, to Lane Hinsperger of Worthington, Minn.

Barker graduated from Hamline University and is now in her second year of veterinary medicine at Colorado Sate University in Fort Collins.

We've all heard Iowa jokes.

"Go 200 hundred miles from Des Moines in any direction and you're still standing in a corn field," one friend said.

Iowa does have lots of farms. Corn, soybeans, cows and pigs are abundant. But only 6 percent of Iowans live on farms.
