Former city attorney lets Maplewood off the hook

Maplewood's former city attorney, Patrick Kelly of the law firm of Kelly and Fawcett, has decided not to pursue legal fees owed to the firm by the city, apparently in the interest of letting bygones be bygones.

Personnel policy revisions made before recent city reorganization

Just prior to a staff reorganization in Maplewood that included the elimination of five top administrative positions from the 2007 budget approved Dec. 11, revisions were made to the city's personnel policies in areas relevant to employee selection, demotion and dismissal.

Commissioners set key staff and officials' salaries for 2007

The Washington County Board of Commissioners set 2007 salaries for key officials at its final meeting of 2006.

The salary for incoming County Sheriff Bill Hutton was set at $101,600. The board set County Attorney Doug Johnson's 2007 salary at $128,000.
