Tartan Theatre is proud to present their production of the classic Broadway hit, Chicago - The Musical.

This classic American musical will run Friday, June 28 through Sunday, June 30.

Chicago, set in the roaring twenties, is a sensuous tale of sin, corruption, and all that jazz. It has everything that makes Broadway great: knockout dancing and a ripped-from-the-headlines story about Roxie Hart, an ambitious chorus girl, who murders her lover and convinces her gullible husband to take the rap. Ultimately, Roxie goes to jail and joins another famous stage performer and murderess, Velma Kelly. Both women are headline hunters seeking to capitalize on pre-trial publicity  as they turn to their tricky lawyer, Billy Flynn, to free them from jail and make them stars.

Chicago - The Musical is the recipient of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and thousands of standing ovations world-wide. If you loved the Academy Award-winning film, nothing beats the live show!

The production will be directed by Tartan’s, Ryan DeLaCroix, with musical direction provided by Hannah Braasch.

According to DeLaCroix and Braasch, “After having an amazing set of  auditions, We knew that this was going to be a blockbuster. The caliber of singers, dancers, and actors at Tartan has been getting better every year. And Chicago is a perfect production to challenge the combined talents of our students. This one is going to be big!”

Chicago is part of the annual Tartan Theatre Summer Intensive Theatre Camp. The cast and crew of the show build the set, learn their lines, music and choreography in three weeks.

Camp began June 10 for the 21 cast members  and 12 crew members and have been rehearsing for eight hours each day.

Chicago - The Musical opens Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m., and continues on Saturday, June 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 30 at 2 p.m.  Tickets range from $8 for adults, $7 for Seniors and $6 for students and children. Parental discretion is advised for younger children.
