Anna Stolte of North St. Paul is a Featured Round Artist in Classical Minnesota Public Radio’s Minnesota Varsity competition. Four of the Featured Round Artists will be selected as Showcase Artists by a panel of judges and one by an online audience vote.

Of 125 students who submitted recordings, only 13 were chosen as performers and five as composers to continue in the competition.

Stolte leads a women’s a capella group at North High School, performing mainly pop song arrangements. She was a soloist in the National Catholic Youth Choir last summer and recorded Gounod’s "Ave Maria." At this point in the MPR competition, she has been matched with a professional recording engineer to record her voice.

Stolte plans on majoring in sacred music and music education. When asked her favorite types of music, she says “I’m the strangest person: Gregorian chant, jazz and gospel.”
