Retreat Offered to Pastoral Ministers

The Benedictine Center, 2675 Benet Road, Maplewood. is offering a two-day retreat geared to the needs of lay ministers, ordained ministers, parish staff members and others who serve their churches and faith communities. Called Befriending Your Limits, it will be held Friday, March 4 to Saturday, March 5.  The $100 cost includes lodging and meals.

According to Sam Rahberg, who leads this retreat, participants will experience silence, a quiet environment and meaningful conversation.  “It will give them time away to lovingly face the fact they aren’t physically, mentally, or spiritually invincible — and actually realize their potential for a new beginning.”

It draws on ideas from his forthcoming book called “Enduring Ministry,” to be published in the fall.  In it he writes that feelings of despair, defeat or anger actually represent a creative spiritual tension that Christian leaders can use to enhance their ministry.
