Ryan Rathje to join leadership team at St. Croix Lutheran

Ryan Rathje

St. Croix Lutheran has named Ryan Rathje as the school’s academic dean for grades sixth through 12.

Rathje currently serves as the director of education at Manitowoc Lutheran High School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and will begin his duties at St. Croix Lutheran in West St. Paul in July 2017. Rathje has a master’s degree in professional development from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and is nearing the completion of his doctorate in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Walden University.

“I am humbled at the opportunity to join the ministry team at SCL and excited to get to know the teachers and students,” Rathje said.

The academic dean position was previously held by Todd Russ. When he was chosen as the president of SCL in 2015, the responsibilities of the dean were divided among him, the high school and middle school principals, and two faculty members.

Russ says of Rathje, “In my discussions with him, I heard his vision for academics as well as leadership philosophy. He will be an outstanding fit for our ministry and will challenge all of us to strive for excellence.”
