Girls hockey season nearing its end

The high school girls hockey season is down to the final two weeks of the regular season and the team from Roseville Area High School is looking to pick up some momentum heading into the post-season. The Raiders have had trouble stringing victories together but need to figure that out in order to put together any kind of playoff run.

Through Jan. 20, Roseville had won six games (6-13-1) and only once had the Raiders posted back-to-back victories.

Heading into a game against Park-Cottage Grove on Jan. 21, Roseville found itself tied with the Wolfpack for seventh place in the Suburban East Conference. The Raiders’ final four regular-season games are against teams above them in the standings.

Roseville hosts Stillwater on Jan. 26 and visits SEC-leading Cretin-Derham Hall on Jan. 28. Next week the Raiders host White Bear Lake on Feb. 2 and travel to Woodbury to face East Ridge on Feb. 4.

Roseville’s lone conference victories came against Woodbury and both were one-goal games. The tie came in the first meeting with Park-Cottage Grove.

Roseville owns non-conference wins over Duluth, Minnetonka, South St. Paul and Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids.

The Section 4AA playoffs begin with the quarterfinals on Feb. 11. The semifinals are Feb. 14 and the championship game is Feb. 17. All games are played at Aldrich Arena.
