Inquiring Minds: Willing your books to the library

Q. When it is time for me to leave Ramsey County and adjourn to that Great Reading Room in the Sky, will you send a truck to my residence to pick up the books in my own substantial library?

A. We thank you for your generous impulses, but while the Library is always grateful to accept current or older books that are relevant and in good condition, we think that the exact arrangements of such a large donation are probably best completed in advance, and in consultation with our Friends of the Ramsey County Library organization. Not all donated materials end up in the Library’s collection. Many are sold for the benefit of the Library by our Friends organization. You can find out more about the Friends and their policies here: www.rclfriends.org/buy-books

While, under current tax law, donations of materials to the Library are tax-deductible, you should always check with your tax advisor before making a large claim.
