Inquiring Minds: I can’t find my library book.

Q. I confess. I can't find my library book. What happens now?

A. Do not despair, but don't ignore the situation either. The first thing you should do is call the library and let us know what's happening. If possible, we will renew your item so that you get a little extra time to look for it, fine-free.

We often remind patrons to ask other members of the household about a missing book; carefully check for it under beds, behind sofas, in closets; and pay close attention to places where it might have been mislaid in your vehicle. If you truly are unable to find the book, you will eventually be charged a replacement fee ... but take hope. Many, if not most lost items do eventually turn up.
