Inquiring Minds: World War I monument at State Fairgrounds

Q. Where can I find the World War I monument at the State Fairgrounds?

A. There is a plaque at the Veterans Garden, which is on the south lawn of the Agriculture Horticulture Building, across from the International Bazaar. According to the 2009 State Fair Annual Report: A plaque recognizing Minnesota’s World War I veterans was dedicated at the State Fair Veterans Garden; participants in the dedication ceremony included Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Commissioner Mike Pugliese and former President of the Veterans of World War I Auxiliary Pat Schon. Other plaques at the site honor Gallant Soldiers, Civil War, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, United States of America Medal of Honor Minnesota recipients, and Gold Star families.
