Oakdale Wellness 50+ community gathering

On Thursday, March 8, the Oakdale Wellness 50+ group will be hosting a community gathering of residents and key stakeholders regarding the changing demographics of the community and how to work collectively to promote the wellness of residents. Speakers will include Lowell Johnson, Dr. Thomas Kottke and the Oakdale Wellness 50+ team.

Johnson, Washington County director of Public Health and Environment has held a number of roles within Washington County including his private sector health care experience as an EMT-paramedic.  He will be presenting some of the changing demographics of the community — how Oakdale looks as a community today and what the projections are for the future.

Kottke has extensive experience in health and wellness as a professor with the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota, a cardiologist and the medical director for evidence-based health at HealthPartners. He will address the importance and impact of community-based initiatives in improving the physical, mental and social wellbeing of a community.

The Oakdale Wellness 50+ team will also present some of the work they have done, review their future plans and facilitate a discussion on opportunities to work together in serving Oakdale’s diverse and aging community population.
