AARP safe driver refresher course 

A four-hour refresher course will be offered at RosePointe Senior Living on Thursday, April 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Participants may register in person at RosePointe at 2555 Hamline Ave. N. in Roseville, or by phone at 651-639-1000. 

 

Lakeshore Quilters host speaker

The Lakeshore Quilters are hosting a presentation by Minnesota Quilters’ 2012 “Quilter of the Year” Maxine Rosenthal at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m.. Rosenthal, author of “One Block Wonders,” will give her presentation, “How I got here and other insanity.” Non-member admission is $5. New Brighton Area Historical Society meeting 

The New Brighton Area Historical Society hosts the presentation “The Twin City Arsenal” at the New Brighton Community Center on Thursday, April 26, at 2 p.m. Learn New Brighton’s role in World War II, what wartime sacrifices the city took and how this time transformed New Brighton. Admission is free and there will be beverages and desserts. The New Brighton Community Center is located at 400 10th St. NW in New Brighton. For more information call 651-633-4070.

 

Spring Rose Brunch

The Spring Rose Brunch World Encounter Fundraiser, supporting microloans for women in Tanzania, Africa, is Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Roseville Lutheran Church, 1215 Roselawn Ave. W. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at www.worldencounter.org/events. Brunch is served promptly at 10 a.m.

 

Twin Cities Master’s Chorale concert

The Twin Cities Master’s Chorale will perform at North Heights Lutheran Church on Sunday, April 29, at 4 p.m.. Admission is free but donations are welcome. North Heights Lutheran Church is located at 1700 Highway 96 in Arden Hills. For more information call 651-797-7800.

 

Toastmasters meeting

The Lino Lakes Toastmasters are having an open house Tuesday, May 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Lino Lakes City Hall, 620 Town Center Parkway. Toastmasters provide a great way for people to learn to speak effectively, conduct a meeting, lead, delegate and motivate. The meeting is open to all.
