Isaacson town hall meeting

Sen. Jason Isaacson, who represents District 42, is holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, June 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shoreview City Hall, 4600 Victoria St. N. Senate District 42 includes Arden Hills, Gem Lake, Little Canada, Mounds View, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and parts of Roseville, Spring Lake Park and Blaine.

 

Flag Day ceremony and barbecue

Cardigan Ridge Senior Living is celebrating its first anniversary with a barbecue and Flag Day ceremony. The event is Thursday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include live music and great food. RSVP to Paige Garcia at 651-765-2733. Senate District 42 DFL summer picnic

The Senate District 42 Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party is hosting its annual summer picnic on Tuesday, June 19, at 5 p.m. at Spooner Park, 350 Eli Road in Little Canada at the pavillion by the playground. It will be a great opportunity to talk to your local representatives and candidates, visit with fellow Democrats and discover how you can make a difference in the very important election coming up this November. The DFL will be grilling main dishes, but asks attendees, who are able, to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Families are welcome. Cities in Senate District 42 include all of Arden Hills, Gem Lake, Little Canada, Mounds View, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and parts of Roseville, Spring Lake Park and Blaine.

 

Juneteenth celebration 

Dating back to 1865, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. As we remember the painful past of slavery and its legacy in today’s society, Do Good Roseville is hosting a Juneteenth event as a way to foster building a future where all people are treated equally in a vibrant integrated community.  There will be free food, games, music and dancing on Tuesday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Foundation Shelter in Central Park, 2495 Victoria St. N. in Roseville. Members of the community will give short speeches on the significance of Juneteenth. 

 

Blood drive at New Brighton Department of Safety

The Red Cross is having a blood drive on Wednesday, June 20, from 12:30 to 6:30 pm at the Public Safety Center in New Brighton, 785 Old Highway 8 NW. All blood types are needed, blood supplies are especially low during the summer months when people are taking vacations. Walk-ins are always welcome, or you can make an appointment at www.redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767.

 

New Brighton Eagles Auxiliary bake sale

The New Brighton Eagles Auxiliary hosts a bake sale at The Eagles Club Saturday, June 23, starting at 9 a.m. Proceeds go to a scholarship fund for Irondale and Mounds View high schools. Enjoy a caramel roll and free cup of coffee while browsing confections to take home. The Eagles Club is located at 563 Old Highway 8 NW in New Brighton. For more information call 651-636-9525. 

  

Calvary Church community theater

Calvary Church Community Theatre presents the play “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Central Park Frank Rog Amphitheatre on Friday, June 22, starting at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 23, starting at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. A third performance will be held at Calvary Church on Sunday, June 24, starting at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. If there is rain Friday or Sunday, the back-up venue is Path of Grace United Methodist Church. All performances are free. St. John’s Church food shelf donation

St. John the Baptist Church will be collecting donated food items on Wednesday, June 27, starting in the evening. Church members will go door to door in the New Brighton community to drop off bags for donated items Sunday, June 24, starting in the afternoon. Learn to inline skate at the Roseville OVAL

Every Wednesday night this summer learn how to inline skate at the Roseville OVAL. The cost is $5 per lesson and Greater MN Speedskating will have its inline coaches on hand to guide beginning skaters through the learning process. Skaters of all levels will benefit from the lessons, but they will be geared towards novice and youth skaters. Warmups begin at 5 p.m. with instruction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Weather cancellations are possible; there are no lessons July 4. The OVAL is located at 2661 Civic Center Drive in Roseville.

 

Play cribbage and 500 in Roseville

The Roseville Senior Club 5 is looking for new players to join in games of cribbage and 500. The club meets at the Rosetown Legion, 700 County Road C, the first and third Thursdays of the month. Sign in is at 11:15 a.m. and is followed by coffee and dessert, with play beginning at 12:15 p.m.

 

Teen meetings for those affected by other’s drinking

Alateen is an organization and program for young people whose life’s have been affected by some one else’s drinking. Meet others in similar situations and recover together. Meetings are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 1280 Arcade St. in St. Paul. Meetings are for ages 11 through 19; two Alateen certified adults help facilitate the meeting.
