Coffee lovers have a new spot to grab java in Maplewood. Dunkin’ Donuts opened last week at 1275 County Road D.

Owners Pritesh Patel, Anuj Patel, Neil Savani, Tushar Gopani and Mihir Mehta, who hail from Chicago, say the Midwest, and Minnesota in particular, is a good market for coffee.

“We chose Maplewood in particular because it is a high traffic area,” said Savani, adding the store, perched on a hill off County Road D, has high visibility and is tucked in a deep residential area.

“We want to be part of the neighborhood,” he said.

The ownership group owns Dunkin’ Donuts franchises in Chicago, bringing the East Coast chain to the Midwest. The Maplewood location is its second in Minnesota; the first opened in Roseville in 2017.

“There are a lot of transplants [here] from New England and the East Coast where Dunkin’ is huge,” Savani said.

Those transplants miss their Dunkin’, and locals can compare for themselves. The group acknowledged that there is plenty of competition with coffee shops like Caribou and Starbucks, but believe they can compete by delivering the fastest service of the bunch.
