The annual Mexica New Year celebration returned March 16 at Johnson High School. The event celebrates indigenous cultures in the Twin Cities, in addition to celebrating the Mexica New Year, which this year is 7 akatl, or 7 reed. The event was hosted by the Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center, Kalpulli Yaocenoxtli and the International Indigenous Youth Council-Twin Cities.
