A Weekend Hermitage

Have you ever wondered what being a hermit would feel like? The Benedictine Center is offering a weekend “Hermitage Retreat” from Friday, April 26, thru Sunday, April 28. The $150 cost includes lodging and meals. A $25 cost is for Saturday only.

According to Sam Rahberg, director of the Center, participants will leave their busy lives behind and spend the weekend in silence, reading, praying, meditating and resting in the hospitality of St. Paul’s Monastery, which includes access to the monastic library, art exhibits and grounds. Led by Virginia Matter, who is a Benedictine Sister, spiritual director, and long-time teacher of centering prayer.

On Tuesday, April 23, starting at 7 p.m. head to St Paul’s Monastery for the rare opportunity to hear Dr. Nadia Mohamed share her experiences as a Muslim woman who practices the Islamic faith.  She is a distinguished professor of World Religions at Minneapolis College. Dr. Mohammad will explain Muslim Pillars of Faith, Sharia Law, the similarities between the Qurían and the Bible and the common misconceptions about Islam. There will be time for dialog.  You are invited to come to expand your understanding of Muslims and the Islamic Faith. A free will offering will be accepted. Space is limited.
