Children’s book release party with a hedgehog

Author and photographer Sara Marie Moore and her hedgehog Ginger will hold a book release party for “The Spike Cream Woods” at the Shoreview Library, 4560 Victoria St. N., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. The photo-illustrated children’s book blends the worlds of fiction and nonfiction as Ginger, a real-life African pygmy hedgehog, explores a fictional ice cream forest. Ginger will appear for a reading of the book, a short phonics lesson and a question and answer time about pet hedgehogs every 15 minutes until 3 p.m. The book will be available to check out from the Ramsey County Library this spring. Benefit concert for the St. Anthony Orchestra

The St. Anthony Civic Orchestra is hosting its annual benefit on Saturday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. Concertgoers can enjoy dessert while listening to the performance, and can also bid on the chance to conduct and play in the orchestra at the event’s silent auction, which will also contain a variety of items donated by local businesses. The event will be hosted at the St. Anthony Community Center, 3301 Silver Lake Road NE. Admission is $10. For more information call 612-788-3516. 

 

St. Anthony Village Gardeners plant sale

The St. Anthony Village Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale on Wednesday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Chenoweth Greenhouses, 563 Old Highway 8, in New Brighton. Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase flowers and shrubs for Trillium Park and for the planters in street medians.

Plant sale flyers are available at St. Anthony City Hall, St. Anthony Library and Annona Gourmet. Bring a flyer to the sale and your name will be entered in a drawing for a hanging basket. Mounds View Lions garage sale

The Mounds View Lions Club is holding its community garage sale Wednesday, May 15, through Friday, May 17, in Hillview Park, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days. The park is located in the 2500 block of Hillview Road in Mounds view.

 

Lauderdale city-wide garage sale

The Lauderdale city-wide garage sale is Saturday, May 18. Call City Hall at 651-792-7650 by May 10 to register your sale location. A list of garage sale locations will be available from City Hall the week before the event. Sales begin at 8 a.m.

 

Shoreview Community Garden Club plant sale

The Shoreview Community Garden Club will host a plant sale on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Haffeman Pavillion at the Shoreview Community Center, 4600 Victoria St. N. Blood drive at St. Charles 

St. Charles Borromeo Church at 2739 Stinson Blvd. NE in St. Anthony will host Memorial Blood Bank on Monday, May 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. in Doran Hall. There is a constant need for blood; Minnesota hospitals use 700 to 800 units of blood each day for victims of trauma or burns, surgical patients and cancer patients.
