County invites feedback on Rice Creek master plan

Ramsey County Parks and Recreation invites residents to review and comment on the draft master plan for the Rice Creek Regional Trail Master Plan Amendment. The draft concept is a result of a public engagement process including five public meetings, two online surveys, engagement with other local agencies and user groups and other comments received. The preferred draft plan will be available for a period of 30 days to gather additional input and feedback. The 30-day public comment period will end May 25. The draft can be viewed online at the Parks and Recreation website, www.ramseycounty.us/residents/parks-recreation. Ramsey County Suburban Law Enforcement Memorial 

In observance of National Police Week, May 12 to 18, the Mounds View Police Department will host the eighth annual Ramsey County Suburban Law Enforcement Memorial at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive. The memorial will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 16.

 

Featured Artist Program in Roseville

The next installment of Arts Roseville’s Featured Artist Program is Saturday, May 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Roseville Library in the community room. Featuring Samuel Jacobs, a young artist, the event is free and open to all. For more information go to www.artsroseville.org. The library is located at 2180 Hamline Ave. N.

 

Shoreview Community Garden Club plant sale

The Shoreview Community Garden Club will host a plant sale on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m, in the Haffeman Pavillion at the Shoreview Community Center, 4600 Victoria St. N. The sale will feature a variety of nursery-grown annuals and member-grown perennials. For more information call 651-484-4341.

 

St. Paul Vocal Forum performance

The St. Paul Vocal Forum is marking its 15 years of choral music-making with an eclectic spring program on Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 1660 County Road B in Roseville. The concert features “Sing Me Awake,” a newly commissioned piece by Minnesota composer Elizabeth Alexander. Special guest artists include the Lake String Quartet and guitarist Dan Schwartz. There’s a $20 suggested donation but no one is turned away for inability to pay. A reception will follow.

 

Godzilla and pals at the Shoreview library 

Get ready for the new “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” movie with this complete oral history of the original Toho Godzilla series, its related films and their red pterosaurs and giant, kindly moths. Learn to tell the difference between the various Mechagodzillas, whether King Kong or Godzilla wins and if Frankenstein in fact conquers the world, in “Frankenstein Conquers the World.” Reverend Matt’s Monster Science, a multimedia series of hilarious and informative talks on monsters of all sorts, is perfect for kids ages 10 and up and for adults of all ages. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at the Shoreview Library, 4560 Victoria St. N. Admission is free and the program is open to all.
