The Concordia Academy volleyball team finished second at the Class AA state tournament Nov. 12. The team included Rachel Terhaar, Brooke Weichbrodt, Taylor Brunn, Sally Paul, Kira Fallert, Lydia Lecher, Sarah McTaggart, Anika Neuman, Arika Robinson, Erin Fallert and Abby Miggler.
For the second consecutive year, the Concordia Academy volleyball team concluded its season by playing for a state championship.
The volleyball teams from Concordia Academy and DeLaSalle appear destined to meet in the section final for the second consecutive season. The top two seeds had little trouble in winning their section playoff openers last week.
Not much went right for the Concordia Academy football team in its playoff opener last week. The Beacons gave up three first-quarter touchdowns and the ensuing two-point conversions and went on to lose 44-0 to Spectrum.
The Concordia Academy football team hasn’t won a game since the first week of the season. The team the Beacons beat back then was Spectrum, which went on to finish the regular season with a .500 record.
The high school football regular season has reached week eight, which means games on Wednesday because of the teachers’ convention. It also means that teams have one more chance to prepare for the post-season.
As a freshman, Barnabas Preble was the No. 2 runner on the Concordia Academy boys cross country team in 2015. The top Beacon from last year was a senior and Preble has stepped into the No. 1 spot this season as a sophomore.
