Ramsey County installs new signals to help with red light enforcement
Small blue lights are showing up on the sides of traffic signals throughout Ramsey County offering police a safer way to enforce red lights and in turn, reduce accidents.
In total, 128 blue lights will be installed at 49 intersections, according to a Ramsey County release.

With St. Paul’s citywide bike plan in the final draft stages, Ramsey County is looking to draw up a plan of its own to connect existing clumps of bike trails throughout the county’s 19 cities.

Ramsey County may partner with Hennepin on juvenile detention

Ramsey County’s Boys Totem Town, a juvenile detention facility in St. Paul’s Battle Creek neighborhood, was built in the 1930s, and today holds just a fraction of its intended capacity. There are typically less than 40 kids in a facility that once held well over 100.
According to the county, it’s an aged relic that needs to be replaced. And it’s the same scoop for the Hennepin County equivalent, the Hennepin County Home School.

Lyle "Ty" Hoffman, 44, of Minneapolis has been charged in Ramsey County District Court with one count of intentional second-degree murder in the shooting of 48-year-old Kelly Phillips, outside a Holiday gas station in Arden Hills Monday, Aug. 11.

Ramsey County authorizes purchase of Vadnais Sports Center

In about a month, Ramsey County will be able to boast a good-as-new sports complex as its newest addition to the Parks and Recreation Department.
At its May 27 meeting, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 to authorize county manager Julie Kleinschmidt to purchase the Vadnais Sports Center for $9.8 million. The county also authorized the purchase of two adjacent commercial lots which could be developed for $752,000.

Judge approves Ramsey County bid for Vadnais Sports Center

Last week, Ramsey County secured its place in the “state of hockey” after a probate court judge allowed the county to purchase the Vadnais Sports Center, a complex that houses two ice arenas and seating for more than a thousand spectators, among other amenities.
