A truck hauling a large load of water overturned in Roseville around 11:30 a.m. May 6. The rig was exiting onto Snelling Avenue northbound from State Highway 36 eastbound when the incident occurred, closing down the ramp for several hours.

Roseville Rainbow to become Cub Foods

Roundy’s is jumping ship on the Minnesota grocery market, the company announced May 7.
The company, which owns the local Rainbow Foods stores, cites a tough economy and a competitive local grocery market as reasons for the exit, according to a press release.
As a result, the Rainbow Foods grocery store near the Roseville Shopping Center at 1201 Larpenteur Ave., which also includes a stand-alone liquor store, will be bought by Twin Cities-based SuperValu Foods in the next 60 days.

Roseville considers former Perc site for park

The Mounds View Public School District owns a 3.32-acre parcel of land at 2959 Hamline Ave. in Roseville, the site of its former district service center. The district hopes to sell the property to the city of Roseville for use as a park. Over the past decade, ISD 621 has spent more than $760,000 in soil remediation and monitoring costs due to the discovery of Perc contamination on the property. (Johanna Holub/Review)

Mounds View Public Schools is letting go of a site that’s been with the district for more than 40 years.
A purchase agreement with the city of Roseville to sell a three-acre parcel of land at 2959 Hamline Ave. was approved at the school board’s April 8 meeting.

Fire in Roseville leaves one dead

One person is dead after a weekend fire in Roseville.
According to a news release from the city, on Saturday, March 22 just before 6 p.m., the Roseville Fire Department, with assistance from the Lake Johanna Fire Department, was dispatched to the Rose Mall Apartments located in the 2200 block of Pascal Street. There were reports of alarms sounding and smoke coming from the third floor of the apartment building.

Roseville City Council, RHRA discuss business retention, Dale Street redevelopment

The Roseville City Council held a joint meeting with the Roseville Housing and Redevelopment Authority (RHRA) March 3 to discuss the Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) program and the Dale Street Redevelopment project.
The RHRA launched the BR&E program in November to get a better understanding of the local business environment in Roseville. A 24-person BR&E taskforce surveyed 41 non-retail businesses in Roseville to find out what their needs are.
