District 622 School Board adopts 2014-2015 budget

The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School Board unanimously approved and adopted the district’s 2014-2015 revenue and expenditure budgets at its Tuesday, June 24 meeting.

Steve Jackson has been a Tartan High School volunteer of Tartan wrestling for the past 24 years.

After the season last spring, he decided it was time to step away from the game.


Maplewood, District 622 work on funds for children’s program

Goal is to have five adults responsible for every child
Maplewood is hoping to implement a new plan for children, and a fairly unique one at that.


North team wins Robotics National Championship

North High was crowned first place and the Grand Champion in the National Robotics League Championship held in Cleveland Ohio. What began as somewhat of a whim for North junior Kevin Brannon has turned into what is near an obsession. 

“I saw something on the Internet when I was just a kid,” he said. “And I thought, ‘Boy is that cool.’”

Prom Banquet center was filled with academic talent
The 18th annual STA2RS Banquet was held May 21 at the Prom Center in Oakdale. It is the date the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District parades a room full of academic all-stars across the stage to celebrate what is right with public education.


Polars choose Peasley as new boys hockey coach

Peasley replaces longtime head coach Diebel
North High alum, former All-Conference standout and current assistant hockey coach Nate Peasley has been chosen as the Polars’ new head hockey coach.

In celebration of Character Recognition Day on May 8, Synergy & Leadership Exchange presented awards for positive character development to 17 schools and four community programs at the Character Recognition Awards Ceremony at the Minnesota State Capitol. Cowern Elementary School received a Promising Practices Award for “Promoting Peace Across the Grade Levels,” a practice where each student participates in a cross-grade level peace group, meeting on a monthly basis to focus on a specific topic and engage in activities that promote peace building and positive relationships.
