St. Anthony police body cams could be recording this fall


file photo • St. Anthony police officers could begin wearing and using body-worn cameras as soon as this fall, according to Chief Jon Mangseth.

At the July 24 St. Anthony City Council Meeting, St. Anthony Police Chief Jon Mangseth said that police-worn body cameras had been ordered and were on their way.

New Brighton OKs Pike Lake Kindergarten construction


Solomon Gustavo • At its July 24 meeting, the New Brighton City Council approved construction at the Pike Lake Kindergarten Center on 14th Street in New Brighton. Construction of two classrooms on the back of the building along the parking lot, the area seen above, is set to begin this fall and finish next summer. The project is funded by the $165 million Mounds View School District building bond referendum that passed in November.

Many New Brighton school-aged residents are funneled into the growing Mounds View School District.

Roseville adopts Rice/Larpenteur vision plan


courtesy of City of Roseville • On July 23 the Roseville City Council adopted the Rice Street/Larpenteur Avenue vision plan, which calls for completely updating and revitalizing the area.

Though it gave it good reviews in March, on July 23 the Roseville City Council officially adopted the Rice Street/Larpenteur Avenue vision plan that will be used to help guide redevelopment in the area.

Woman found dead, teen sexually assaulted on East Side

A 33-year-old man was charged July 25 with kidnapping and sexual assault and is a suspect in a woman’s death following events that unfolded two days prior at an East Side residence.

New business opening in former Stargate space


Marjorie Otto/Review • Grocery & Nepali Kitchen, a family restaurant/grocery store, will soon open for business in the former location of Stargate Bar & Nightclub, near the corner of Rice Street and Larpenteur Avenue in Maplewood. The building has been vacant since the city closed the nightclub in February 2017 after a chaotic shooting at the bar that injured five people.
