Area arts groups receive funding

Last week three Roseville organizations received arts funding: the Encore Wind Ensemble, Minhua Chorus and the Rosetown Playhouse. They are among nine area arts organizations that were presented checks up to $3,000 for community arts projects at a ceremony held at the Roseville Skating Center on Jan. 23.

The grants were awarded by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (St. Paul) as part of a competitive process for groups wishing to do community arts projects. The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council receives an appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature and a grant from The McKnight Foundation to insure that arts opportunities are available in all metro communities.

The other arts organizations receiving awards were: FamilyMeans (Stillwater), Harmonic Relief (Oakdale), Lakeshore Players, Inc. (White Bear Lake), Square Lake Solstice Festival (St. Paul), St Croix Valley Chamber Chorale (Stillwater) and White Bear Center for the Arts (White Bear Lake).
