From MySpace to YouTube, U professor introduces the 'Social Web'

John Riedl, University of Minnesota professor of computer science and engineering, will present a talk on the development and future of the "Social Web", how the Internet has changed the way people keep friends, find jobs, enjoy hobbies and even choose life partners. The presentation will include a selection of YouTube movies, social Web sites and massively multiplayer online games in action.

The talk is part of the Headliners program, a new monthly lecture series from the University of Minnesota's College of Continuing Education that gives the public the opportunity to get their news firsthand, from the experts. Talks take place on the first Thursday of every month.

The lecture will take place Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Continuing Education & Conference Center on the university's St. Paul campus (1890 Buford Ave. in St. Paul). Tickets are $10; to purchase, call 612-624-4000, visit www.cce.umn.edu/headliners or buy at the door.
