National Night Out

The cities of Maplewood and North St. Paul will participate in National Night Out on Wednesday, August 7. Residents from Maplewood will host block parties with root beer floats to encourage community among neighborhoods.

Maplewood Deputy Police Chief Dave Kvam said officers will be visiting each party to get to know residents and become familiar with different neighborhoods and who lives there. Kvam said the goal of the night is for neighbors to get out and meet each other. When residents of a neighborhood are familiar with who lives in the area, they are more likely to notice when something doesn't seem right and report it to police, he said.

The night has been successful in years' past, with upwards of 60 block parties being held.

Check with each city's City Hall for a list of the parties. Area residents are encouraged to attend the parties and get to know their neighbors!
