Organ concert
A pipe organ concert will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. This event is a Christian musical celebration for the completed restoration of Our Redeemer's Möller Pipe Organ. The concert will feature solo organ pieces, guest musicians and the opportunity for community hymn singing. Admission is free and all are welcome. A nursery will be provided. Mental Health First Aid Course
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota will hold a free Mental Health First Aid training course in St. Paul designed to teach the basic first aid skills needed to help a person who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. This two-day, 12-hour course is aimed at improving mental health literacy. It will be held Feb. 25 and 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave. S., in St. Paul. Participants should bring a lunch. Participants will receive a course manual and certificate for completing the course. Registration is required. Maplewood Nature Center
Maplewood Nature Center & Neighborhood Preserves, 2659 E. Seventh St., Maplewood, offers the following public nature program. • Fur Trade Heritage - Feb. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. This free event is best for adults and kids ages 6 and up. Drop in to feel animal furs, examine historical replicas of items from the fur traders, older kids can try making a spark from Flint and steel, and making a hole with a pump drill. Try on a capote and practice your French Accent. Check out the other Nature Center permanent exhibits (all ages). No registration required.
• Visitor Center - open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Nov. 22-24 for the Thanksgiving Holiday, Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, for Christmas and New Year's
• Free nature exhibits for the entire family in the Touch and See Room!
• Trails Open Every Day: 1⁄2 hour before sunrise until 1⁄2 hour after sunset
• Snowshoe Rental: Wooden or aluminum snowshoes available for use on Maplewood Center trails for the entire family! $5/pair. Check snow conditions and call the nature center to reserve.
• Birthday Party: Basic birthday party for up to 12 children, includes one hour naturalist-led nature program, outdoor hike, and party favors. Fee: $45.00. Party room is available to rent for one hour before party. Fee: $30.00.

Horticultural society
The Washington County Horticultural Society will meet Jan. 21 a 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 3000 Hadley Ave., Oakdale. Jayne Roberts will present "The Ongoing Saga of Astilbes and Heucheras. Roberts is a sales representive with Walters Nursery in Michigan. The meeting is open to the public, and there is no charge.
