Pack a picnic supper and go to Picnic Island at Fort Snelling State Park by 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 for a free performance of traditional Dakota dances by Cansa yapi Oyate (chau-sa-yau-pee-o-yat-ee). Cansa yapi Oyate has performed all over the Midwest at pow wows and celebrations. Several dances will be performed by the entire group and others by solo performers in the beautiful outdoor setting by the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers.
The Friends of Fort Snelling is sponsoring this family performance. A state park sticker is required for admission to the park. For more information call 612-725-2724.
