Weekend events scheduled at nature center

The Harriet Alexander Nature Center, located at 2520 N. Dale St. Roseville, is hosting three events this weekend.

• Family Walk-and-Talk “Wildlife Forklore” — On Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., enjoy a family-oriented stroll with a naturalist along HANC and other Central Park trails. These walks offer stories and songs, fascinating facts, and the chance to experience seasonal happenings with your family. Walks will occur rain or shine, so please come dressed appropriately for outdoors and bring rain gear, warm jackets, boots, sunscreen, insect repellent, etc. (In the case of severe weather an alternate date will be set by the naturalist.) Pack a snack for the story break. The event is for toddlers to seniors. The fee is $5 each for the first adult and child, and $4 each for additional adult and child family members. Call 792-7110 to register for program #1210.159.

• Storytelling Saturday “Tales of the Heart” — On Saturday, Feb. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m., the North Star Storytelling League and HANC are offering this new monthly event. Each evening will feature two to three storytellers for your listening enjoyment, followed by a tips and techniques session for developing storytellers, and ending with a 30-minute “open tell” for audience members to try telling their own stories. The event is for those 10 years of age or older. The fee is $6 per person. Call 792-7110 to register for program #1234.126.

• Open House — on Sunday, Feb. 5, from 12 to 5 p.m., is an open house planned in conjunction with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Here are some of the fun offerings for the day: Dress up and pretend to be wildlife vets, play our Wildlife Ramble game, go on an animal tracks hike, try out a pair of snowshoes or take our Baby Animal Quiz to prepare for spring babies.
