Long-time community volunteer Herb Erickson dies

They'd been brothers and best friends since the 1920s, and now one is gone.
Herb Erickson, 88, passed away July 14, after a lifetime of service both professionally and personally.

Lloyd C. Hackl, 73, a prominent member of the Lakewood Community College (now Century College) English department from 1970 to 1997, died Nov. 21 at his winter home in Peoria, Arizona. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Center City Swedish Lutheran Church, 1 Summit Ave., Center City.

Influential theater director, actor, Grant Richey, dies at 49
North High School's long-time theater director, Grant Richey, passed away the morning of Thanksgiving Day from cancer.
Starting late this summer, Richey, 49, had a recurrence of colorectal cancer, which was first diagnosed 10 years ago and had been in remission.

Mable Ella (Buchholz) Lamont of Plymouth died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 21. She was born in Nashua, Iowa on Feb. 17, 1913, grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and Globe Business College.
