The North St Paul Polars 15U AAA traveling baseball team won the Game Day USA tournament Saturday, Aug. 2 in Bloomington. The Polars posted wins over teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and South Dakota, and capped off the weekend tournament by beating Beloit, Wis. in the championship game with a score of 7-6. In front are Travis Mauer, Matt Cramer, Jack O'Neil-Como, Eric Steele, Sam Hei and Sam Shipstad. Behind them are Matt Kelly, Connor Thiets, Lance Moore, Coach Dan Marlowe, Josh Marlowe, Brett Rangitsch and Paul Kemper.


East Twins cap banner year with trip to World Series
They have done it again. The almost unseen and unheard - except to those involved - little baseball park just southwest of Wakefield Lake, at the corner of Larpenteur and Prosperity, in Maplewood, has done it again. A couple of two or three years ago a team from the East Twins Babe Ruth baseball complex made it to the World Series.

Hill-Murray looking to extend swim and dive dynasty
The Hill-Murray swimming and diving team is beginning its sixth season and, even without a "home" pool to practice and compete, the Pioneers have enjoyed continued success the past several years. The Pioneers call the pool at Maplewood Middle School -- also home of the North Polars -- their home.

A sports star in the making
Outside of the athletics department at Tartan High School, the name Rochelle Dotas may not sound familiar even though the soon-to-be senior is an ace in three sports: golf, basketball and tennis.

Perhaps it's because Dotas has never attended a class at Tartan, instead working on her studies through home school with her mom.
